Job summary

Advocate Health’s Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Blood Bank is seeking a Medical Technologist to perform and supervise complex laboratory testing, manage specimens, and dispense blood products in a high‑throughput setting. The role requires a bachelor’s in medical technology or related science, and ASCP certification, with NAACLS background preferred.

The position is full-time on the Winston Campus, with a third shift and weekend coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or a chemical, physical or biological science from an accredited university.
• Experience as a Medical Technologist (MT) preferred.
• ASCP certification or equivalent required.
• NAACLS approved Medical Technology program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform and document laboratory testing with accuracy and timeliness.
• Label specimens correctly and manage STAT priority samples.
• Prepare and dispense blood products per protocols and regulations.
• Follow QC procedures and document QA activities.
• Identify patients properly and ensure correct specimen labeling.
• Maintain safety protocols and use appropriate PPE.
• Support training of junior staff and maintain department standards.
