Job summary

Michaels is seeking an energetic Event Coordinator to plan and run in-store events, including kids’ birthday parties, craft classes, and family activities. You’ll engage customers, assist with purchases, and drive a fun, safe, and organized event experience in-store.

The role involves coordinating multiple events, communicating with clients and team members, and supporting omni-channel processes while maintaining store standards and policies.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with guests of all ages.
• Excellent people skills.
• Experience working with children and children’s events.
• Good communication skills including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Retail or customer service experience required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes or events.
• Engage with clients of all ages, from 4 to 94+, by creating an environment of fun and creativity.
• Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects, perform face painting and other activities.
• Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc. to company standards.
• Communicate events with clients and store team members.
• Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork as needed.
• Adjust plans and events based on client’s feedback and needs.
• Create backup or emergency plans to be executed as needed.
• Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
• Uphold the company’s cleanliness and safety standards. Set up, break down, and clean before and after each event.
