Job summary

The Rockefeller University is seeking a Lab Operations Manager to oversee the Biotech Incubator’s technical operations on campus in New York City. You will ensure safety, compliance with university policies, and efficient facility management for tenants and core facilities.

You will train tenants with LS&E, manage equipment uptime, inventory, and vendor relationships, and contribute to strategic planning and budget management with the Director.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, chemistry, or a related field is required.
• 3–5 years of facility/operations management experience in an academic or commercial biotech laboratory setting.
• Minimum 1 year of staff supervision of non-student roles.
• Strong knowledge of chemical and biological safety and best practices for laboratory operations.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience with multiple budgets and cost-saving initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Oversee technical operations of the Biotech Incubator to meet tenant needs and safety standards.
• Coordinate with LS&E to train tenants, manage waste, and ensure compliance with incubator policies.
• Maintain inventory, purchasing, and supplier relationships for equipment and consumables.
• Assist with onboarding new clients and coordinating IT/facility services.
• Participate in hiring and development of technical staff and strategic planning.
