Job summary

The University of Connecticut seeks an experienced operations/technical manager to oversee the quantum technology incubator at the UConn Health Farmington campus. You will manage day-to-day lab operations, equipment, training, safety protocols, and access control, partnering with EHS and researchers.

You will design SOPs, maintain preventive maintenance, coordinate with startups and external collaborators, and support onboarding of incubator tenants while monitoring expenditures and compliance.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required in a related field and 4+ years in a research/lac infrastructure setting.
• Experience managing technical operations, specialized equipment, and facility infrastructure.
• Experience providing technical guidance, training, and support to researchers and industry partners.
• Familiarity with laboratory safety, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day startup operations of the Quantum CT technology incubator.
• Manage use of specialized research equipment and facility infrastructure.
• Provide guidance on facility capabilities, requirements and lab best practices.
• Create and maintain user documentation, guides, and training materials.
• Develop and maintain SOPs for lab operations, equipment usage, and access management.
• Establish and oversee preventative maintenance programs for critical equipment.
• Ensure compliance with policies and regulations governing lab operations.
• Coordinate with EHS and compliance offices to ensure regulatory adherence.
• Serve as liaison between startup companies, researchers, and collaborators.
• Support onboarding of incubator tenants and facility users.
• Monitor operating expenditures related to facility operations.
