Job summary

Newlab in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a hands-on Biolab Technician for part-time support of our laboratory facilities. You will help maintain lab infrastructure, assist member researchers, and ensure a safe, compliant environment for biotech prototyping.

The role focuses on safety, SOP maintenance, and practical mentorship within the Biolab team, collaborating with startups and researchers in a fast-paced, innovation-driven setting.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on laboratory experience in wet lab, biotech, or shared incubator.
• Relevant coursework in biology, chemistry, or material science.
• Knowledge of chemical hygiene, biosafety (BSL-1), and regulatory compliance.
• Experience operating and troubleshooting standard lab instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain lab infrastructure and inventory; ensure safety and compliance.
• Provide hands-on mentorship and onboarding on safety and basic use of lab tools.
• Update SOPs and OS sections for Biolab tools and materials.
• Assist members with experimental setup and best practices for instrumentation.
