Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician to maintain, repair, and test medical devices across our facilities in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. The role involves working with healthcare staff, managing work orders, and ensuring patient safety.

The ideal candidate has an Associate degree in Bio-Medical Engineering/Electronics and at least 3 years of relevant experience, including radiology or anesthesia equipment. Certification as a Bio-Medical Technician is preferred.

Qualifications

Associate degree in Bio-Medical Engineering/Electronics or military equivalent certifications is required.
Minimum 3 years of experience in installing, maintaining and repairing medical, electronic and/or mechanical equipment.
At least 1 year of Radiology, X-ray, Lab, OR, Dialysis, Anesthesia or other specialized healthcare equipment experience.
Certification as a Bio-Medical Technician by AAMI, CRES or CLES preferred; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

Service a range of medical devices including monitors, ECGs, x-ray units, defibrillators, and sterilizers.
Perform safety tests to protect patients and staff from hazards.
Consult with medical staff to verify device functionality and safety.
Enter and track work orders and asset information in the CMMS system.
Assist with inventory management and departmental budgets.
Possible travel and flexible hours as needed.
