Job summary

AeroVironment in California is seeking a versatile Research Scientist to support biomaterials, protein engineering, biomanufacturing, and small molecule production within the Biomaterials Branch of the Foundational Technologies Directorate.

You will conduct BSL-2 laboratory research spanning microbial physiology, pathway engineering, recombinant protein expression and purification, with opportunities to expand into high-throughput screening and molecular characterization.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or M.S. with 2+ years in relevant fields.
• U.S. Citizenship required for government facility access.
• Experience in BSL-2 laboratory techniques.
• Proficiency in plasmid construction, cloning, and PCR/qPCR.

Responsibilities

• Design molecular biology protocols including plasmid construction and cloning.
• Engineer proteins and perform expression and purification of recombinant proteins.
• Culture, monitor growth, and characterize microorganisms in BSL-2 settings.
• Analyze data and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
