Job summary

RRD is seeking a Bindery Operator in Durham, NC to set up and run a range of bindery equipment, ensure quality, and coordinate multiple work stations for efficient production.

You will supervise crew, monitor output, and maintain safety and accuracy in finishing printed materials. The role includes exposure to various bindery processes and a structured progression in pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret work orders and maintain dimensional accuracy.
• Must be able to calculate distances, clearances, and fits in combining machines.
• Skill in using standard and specialized tools to adjust bindery machines.
• Knowledge of complex bindery machines and finishing operations.
• Knowledge of paper stock quality requirements.
• Ability to set up and adjust machines for finishing operations and to refine adjustments.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust and operate a variety of auxiliary binding machines containing several cutting heads and attachments.
• Set up automatic bindery machines with multiple functions and station capabilities to produce finished products.
• Inspect equipment for safety issues and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Operate automatic adhesive binding machines (perfect binders) to process sheets into final books/catalogs.
• Make adjustments to coordinate multiple work stations on a single machine.
• Direct crew through all aspects of production and monitor output and productivity.
• Monitor quality, output and productivity.
