Job summary

SMArtX Advisory Solutions is seeking a driven Billing Specialist to join the Finance Team. The role supports monthly billing and accounts receivable, ensuring revenue accuracy and clean customer account records.

The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment, taking ownership of tasks and meeting deadlines with high accuracy.

Qualifications

• One to two years of experience in billing, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, or a related accounting function.
• Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• An equivalent combination of relevant education, professional credentials, coursework, and practical experience will be considered.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, and SUMIFS.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online.
• Experience with SAP Ariba is a plus.
• Previous experience working with proprietary billing or accounting systems is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and consistently meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Resourceful, proactive, and comfortable taking initiative.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Professional written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the monthly billing process to ensure invoices are accurate and completed on schedule.
• Generate and distribute monthly invoices to customers.
• Post revenue accurately within the company’s accounting and billing systems.
• Post payments received to the appropriate customer accounts.
• Reconcile customer accounts and research payment discrepancies, deficits, and unapplied balances.
• Monitor outstanding invoices and follow up professionally with customers regarding unpaid balances.
• Update, review, and verify customer billing rates within the company’s proprietary billing system.
• Respond to customer billing inquiries and assist with resolving account discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate and organized billing records and supporting documentation.
• Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
