Job summary

National Law Firm is seeking a Billing Manager to lead and optimize its legal billing operations in New York. This senior role partners with partners and firm leadership to drive accuracy, efficiency, and compliant invoicing.

You will oversee prebills through final invoicing, manage diverse billing arrangements, and mentor a billing team, developing dashboards and metrics to improve realization and revenue.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive billing experience within a law firm.
• Hands-on expertise with Finance Core, Coyote, and Tabs.
• Deep understanding of legal billing compliance, client guidelines, and revenue cycles.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the end-to-end billing lifecycle, including prebills, edits, final invoicing, write-ups/downs, and adjustments.
• Manage complex billing arrangements such as hourly billing, AFAs, capped fees, blended rates, retainers, and fixed-fee structures.
• Ensure compliance with client billing guidelines, outside counsel requirements, and e-billing standards.
• Own and optimize billing systems (Finance Core, Coyote, Tabs), including troubleshooting, enhancements, and upgrades.
• Develop reporting and dashboards to track billing performance, realization, and revenue metrics.
• Partner directly with partners and senior attorneys on billing strategy, issue resolution, and client matters.
• Support client audits, billing reviews, and complex inquiries.
• Lead, mentor, and develop billing staff while ensuring accuracy, quality control, and timely delivery.
