Job summary

Thatch is seeking an Operations Specialist, Billing and Collections to own the day-to-day resolution of the billing queue, working with employers, carriers, and internal teams to keep premium payments current and enrollments accurate.

You will chase overdue invoices, resolve coverage corrections, and decide when to follow up, escalate, or extend flexibility to an employer. A Bachelor’s degree is required, and the role is onsite in Austin, TX. Compensation ranges from $74,000 to $95,000 USD.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of direct experience in billing, collections, or similar operations.
• Excellent judgment for case-by-case decisions on collections and escalation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for difficult conversations.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage a high-volume queue of billing and collections tasks with employers.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies, including coverage corrections and refunds.
• Decide when to follow up, escalate, or extend flexibility with employers.
• Reconcile billing and payments during offboarding and churn.
• Develop SOPs for billing and collections and improve tooling with Engineering.
• Collaborate with Support, Compliance, Carrier Operations, and Engineering.
