Job summary

Thatch, a healthcare payments platform based in Austin, TX, is seeking an operations-focused professional to own payroll deduction reconciliation. You will analyze deductions before payroll runs, identify discrepancies, and drive fixes with cross-functional teams.

You will partner with Engineering to automate reconciliation, build SOPs, and monitor queue health. The role combines finance, operations, and engineering to scale processes in a fast-growing startup.

Qualifications

• 4–7 years of experience in operations, financial/payroll reconciliation, or management consulting.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Experience with financial and payroll data to identify discrepancies.
• Ability to design or improve reconciliation, audit, or financial control processes.
• Onsite work in Austin, TX is required.

Responsibilities

• Own the payroll deduction reconciliation queue, reviewing deductions before payroll runs and flagging discrepancies with clear reasoning.
• Trace reconciliation errors to root cause across enrollment, premium, and payroll data.
• Partner with Engineering to scope and prioritize automation opportunities.
• Manage escalations from payroll connection failures and invoice review queues.
• Build and maintain SOPs and audit trails for transparent reconciliation decisions.
• Report on reconciliation accuracy and queue health to Operations and Finance leadership.
