Job summary

Archdiocese of San Antonio Careers seeks a Transporter to coordinate and implement transportation for unaccompanied alien children (UAC), including escort and delivery to release destinations. The role requires on-call availability and close communication with the Assistant Program Director to address vehicle issues and travel plan changes.

Responsibilities include arranging travel tickets, ensuring safety during transport, and reporting incidents promptly.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one-year experience in the child welfare field working with children and/or adolescents in a social service setting;
• Must be at least 21 years of age, must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, and maintain valid vehicle liability insurance.
• Able to show proof of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases; Varicella/MMR/DTaP/Influenza/COVID-19 as specified.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating purchase of travel tickets and communicating travel plans with sponsors.
• Maintaining supervision and ensuring the safety and well-being of UAC while in transport.
• Anticipating transportation needs of the program and coordinating efforts to complete.
• Ensuring that all vehicle registration and insurance documentation is available in vehicles.
• Ensuring that documentation for transportation is completed in accordance with agency policy, DFPS Minimum Standards and ORR Policy.
• Maintaining the safety and well-being of children through supervision and appropriate interventions.
• Deliver client services and all daily interactions within the Sanctuary Model framework.
• Documenting and reporting to supervisor all serious incidents completely and timely.
• Utilizing positive child management techniques including verbal redirection, de-escalation and containment.
• Reporting to work on time as assigned and scheduled.
• Abiding by traffic laws and agency transportation policies.
• Ensuring transportation services are provided in a manner that promotes best practices and trauma informed care.
• Assuming on-call duties after regular business hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Attending administrative meetings and team building activities.
• Demonstrating knowledge and sensitivity of cultural norms, values and heritage.
• Completion of New Employee Orientation and required professional development.
