Job summary

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston is seeking an Assistant Program Director to support the Director of St. Michaels in shelter services across the Houston area.

The role oversees staff, budget execution, compliance with licensing standards, and coordination with funders and partner agencies. Proficiency in Spanish and English, and a Texas driver's license, are required; LCCA certification should be obtained within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or Education, Psychology, or Sociology.
• Five years of experience in social services or childcare/shelter.
• Two years of program management or director experience in licensed childcare.
• Active LCCA certification or obtain within 6 months.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and staff support for 24-hour shelter operations and safety of children.
• Oversee operating budget development, grant proposals, and funder reports.
• Ensure compliance with THHS standards, licensing, and accreditation.
• Maintain relationships with staff, funders, licensing authorities, and community partners.
• Attend trainings and perform duties assigned by the division Vice President.
