Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Two+ years of experience in building maintenance or related field preferred.
• Valid Texas Driver's License and reliable transportation.
• Experience in shelters or residential facilities is a plus.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine building maintenance and minor repairs (plumbing, electrical, lighting, doors, fixtures).
• Troubleshoot facility issues and determine when specialized contractors are required.
• Complete preventive maintenance and replace components (filters, bulbs, fixtures).
• Assist with painting, patching, assembly, installation and general repair work.
• Conduct routine inspections of shelter and residential areas for safety or facility concerns.
• Prepare rooms, common areas, and program spaces for resident use and program operations.
• Coordinate work with shelter and program staff to minimize disruption to residents and services.
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries around children, families, and other vulnerable populations.
• Respond quickly to facility needs that may impact resident safety or program continuity.
• Ensure safety by reporting concerns, maintaining exits and lighting, and supporting safety inspections.
• Maintain tools and maintenance areas in safe, clean condition; assist with after-hours repairs.
• Assist Facilities Manager with renovations, moves, and equipment replacement.
• Verify completion of maintenance work and report outstanding issues.
• Travel between assigned agency facilities as needed.
