Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations in Houston, TX. You will determine donor eligibility, review tests, and manage donor safety under the Center Manager and Center Physician guidance.

You will be familiar with plasma industry regulations, provide EHS guidance, and contribute to vaccination programs for staff while coordinating with Medical Affairs as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program.
• Licensed or certified EMT-Paramedic in the state where responsibilities will be assigned.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and respond to medical emergencies per SOPs and Center Physician guidance.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health/ER evaluation with EHS guidance.
• Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations related to pandemics.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program
