Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations at the Universal City, TX site. You will determine donor eligibility, review lab results, and assist with donor safety under supervision of the Center Manager and Center Physician.

The role includes supporting vaccination programs, OSHA/EHS guidelines, and activities related to environmental health and safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent to include graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: LPN or LVN.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility; proper informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing SPE.
• Evaluate donor reaction(s) per SOPs and arrange donor transport to emergency care facilities as needed.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical/technical issues.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER; reference EHS guidance.
• Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats.
