Job summary

Primary Health Care, Inc. is seeking a Patient Services Specialist II to ensure a positive patient experience across PHC clinics. You will perform financial screenings, assist with Medicaid/Marketplace enrollment, manage financial assistance, and support billing.

The role involves outreach, documentation, and collaboration with billing and clinic staff. You will work at PHC's Administrative Office with 40 hours per week, Mon-Fri 8:00 AM–4:30/5:00 PM.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2 years in healthcare, human services, or social services; or 3 years in customer service.
• Proficiency in English (spoken & written).
• Proficiency in Spanish (spoken & written).
• Professionalism and excellent customer service skills.
• Detail oriented with high accuracy.
• Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Initiative and dependability.
• Team oriented and collaborative.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to follow written instructions.
• Proficiency with MS Office & Google Suite.
• Ability to learn EHR systems.
• Strong organization & time management.
• Good interpersonal skills with diverse people.
• CAC certification within 12 months of starting.

Responsibilities

• Ensures consistent revenue cycle by screening for financial assistance and payment plans.
• Outbound calls to resolve past balances and verify income for eligibility.
• Assist with Medicaid/Marketplace enrollment and annual enrollment events.
• Help applicants for sliding fee programs.
• Maintain patient financial assistance files and notes.
• Process back-billing when insurance is identified/approved.
• Address billing questions with the billing team.
• Verify and follow up on patient credits or refunds.
• Complete monthly lab and radiology billing.
• Provide estimates of patient costs per No Surprises Act; issue letters on request.
• Monitor payer mix and report changes to Clinic Director.
• Support and cover Patient Access Representative duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
