Job summary

Access Community Health Network is seeking a Patient Benefits Specialist to work with patients on understanding insurance coverage, financial responsibilities, and available payment options. The role focuses on benefit assessments, enrollment assistance, and accurate data entry in the EHR to support reimbursement.

The position requires direct patient interaction, familiarity with Medicare/Medicaid/Marketplace insurance, and EPIC EHR proficiency.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years in customer service.
• Ability to communicate clearly with diverse patients.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

Responsibilities

• Explain benefits and financial requirements to patients and obtain required forms.
• Screen patients for benefits, insurance, and eligibility for grants or assistance programs.
• Verify patients' coverage and explain options to patients and families.
• Assist enrollment based on assessment results and option selection.
• Update patient benefit data in the EHR and upload supporting documents.
• Maintain current knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Marketplace and private insurance rules.
• Assist patients with Medicaid applications and annual redetermination.
• Coordinate with providers and care team to support patient navigation of revenue cycle.
• Support patients by guiding them through the revenue cycle and hand-offs when needed.
• Uphold HIPAA standards and address patient concerns professionally.
• Other duties as assigned.
