Job summary

You will gather information for payment sources (Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance), determine patients' ability to pay, collect payments, and ensure cash is safeguarded and properly posted.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
• Training/Experience: Medical secretarial program or equivalent; six months’ computer experience; one year clerical/clinical experience in a physician office or health care facility or three years in customer service outside healthcare.
• Job Knowledge: Organize, file, and perform clerical work with speed and accuracy; maintain patient confidentiality; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, efficient, customer-focused service to patients, families, staff and community; schedule appointments; answer phones; take messages and relay to FHC staff.
• Gather information for payment sources (Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, etc.) and determine patients’ ability to pay.
• Collect payments on patient accounts and maintain records; safeguard cash and ensure payments are posted accurately.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to front office policies and procedures.
