Qualifications

• Must graduate from MOA program or technical school business program with 1 year experience OR have a high school diploma with 1 year secretarial healthcare experience.
• Some knowledge of medical terminology.
• Proficient with computer, copier/scanner/fax, calculator and other office machines.
• Experience using an electronic health record program and maintaining accurate patient records.
• Strong oral and written communication; ability to build positive relationships.
• Ability to work independently with good judgment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first point of contact, greet patients and visitors.
• Answer phones and route calls; create patient cases as needed.
• Return patient messages promptly via phone or portal.
• Schedule appointments in the electronic health record.
• Maintain provider schedules; manage no-shows and reminders.
• Document demographic data in the patient's EHR at each visit.
• Scan documents into the patient’s electronic health record.
• Verify patient insurance eligibility and document policies.
• Educate patients on sliding fee scale and determine eligibility.
