Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Proficiency in English and Spanish.
• At least 1 year of experience in a customer-facing role, preferably in healthcare or financial counseling.
• Flexibility to provide support at nearby hospital locations within assigned market area.
• Strong organizational skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain complex information clearly.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license; travel 0-15%.

Responsibilities

• Meet with patients in-person, including bedside visits, to assess eligibility for financial assistance.
• Facilitate applications for programs such as Medicaid, Medicare, Disability, and charity care.
• Act as liaison between patients, hospital staff, and government agencies to establish eligibility and secure funding.
• Manage a high caseload with deadlines and follow-up on pending applications.
• Communicate financial obligations and program details empathetically.
• Maintain HIPAA-compliant records and confidential patient data.
• Contribute to productivity and quality metrics in financial counseling objectives.
• Use multiple systems/databases to gather, track, and report patient data.
• Provide vacancy coverage as needed; complete special projects.
