Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Proficiency in English and Spanish.
• At least 1 year of customer-facing experience, preferably in healthcare or financial counseling.
• Willingness to travel 0-15% and support nearby hospital locations.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, with empathetic patient interaction.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Meet with patients in-person, including bedside visits, to assess financial assistance eligibility.
• Facilitate the application process for Medicaid, Medicare, Disability, and charity care.
• Act as liaison between patients, hospital staff, and government agencies to establish eligibility and secure funding.
• Manage a high caseload with timely follow-ups on pending applications.
• Communicate financial obligations and funding options clearly to patients.
• Maintain accurate, confidential records per HIPAA and policies.
• Contribute to productivity and quality metrics of financial counseling.
• Use multiple systems to gather, track, and report patient data.
• Assist with vacancy coverage and complete special projects as assigned.
