Job summary

Savista is hiring an Eligibility Specialist I to help patients access financial assistance programs and navigate complex eligibility processes. You’ll meet with patients in-person and by phone, guiding them through Medicaid, Medicare, disability, and hospital charity programs.

You’ll work with hospital staff, manage multiple systems, and ensure timely, accurate documentation while maintaining HIPAA compliance. This role emphasizes empathy, clear communication, and a patient-centered approach.

Qualifications

• Customer-facing experience in healthcare, financial counseling, or social services.
• Strong organizational skills with ability to handle multiple priorities.
• Ability to explain complex information clearly and empathetically.
• Comfort working in fast-paced environments with changing priorities.
• Tech-savvy and able to manage multiple software systems.

Responsibilities

• Serve as patient advocate, meeting with patients in-person to assess eligibility for financial assistance programs.
• Engage patients by phone to facilitate screenings and documentation.
• Guide patients through Medicaid, Medicare, disability, and hospital charity applications.
• Collaborate across teams to secure coverage and resolve eligibility.
• Manage a high caseload, meet deadlines and maintain quality KPIs.
• Explain financial responsibilities and assistance options clearly and compassionately.
• Maintain confidential records in compliance with HIPAA and policies.
• Utilize multiple systems to document and report patient information.
