Job summary

National Youth Advocate Program seeks an Educator for La Jornada to maintain a positive educational environment and create a program meeting the cognitive and emotional needs of enrolled students. The Educator will work with Assistant Educators to ensure comprehensive education, health, and parental involvement services.

The role requires a Bachelor's in early childhood or elementary education, 2+ years teaching, bilingual English/Spanish proficiency, and TESL certification willingness funded by

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or elementary education.
• Willingness to obtain TESL certification paid by NYAP.
• 2+ years’ experience in teaching capacity and lesson planning.
• Passion for the development and well-being of children.
• Able to pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Create a developmentally appropriate program for our students.
• Develop weekly lesson plans, activities and class setups to meet the individual needs of children.
• Assess children’s needs and development, adjusting lesson plans accordingly.
• Provide guidance and modeling to Assistant Educators in the classroom.
• Ensure the safety of all children in our program.
• Participate in on-call schedule and recruitment activities as needed.
• Documents children’s attendance and progress according to program requirements.
