Job summary

National Youth Advocate Program is seeking an Educator for La Jornada in East Chicago, IN. You will create developmentally appropriate programs and work closely with Assistant Educators to ensure services cover education, physical health, emotional well-being, and parental involvement for enrolled students.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in early childhood or elementary education, TESL willingness, 2+ years of teaching, and a commitment to child development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or elementary education.
• Willingness to obtain TESL certification paid by NYAP.
• 2+ years’ teaching experience and lesson planning.
• Passionate about child development and well-being.
• Able to pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Create developmentally appropriate program for students.
• Develop weekly lesson plans and classroom setups.
• Assess children’s needs and adjust plans accordingly.
• Supervise and support assigned assistant educators.
• Ensure safety of all children in program.
• Participate in recruitment activities as needed.
• Document attendance and progress per program requirements.
