Job summary

The Family Place in Dallas, TX is seeking a Part-Time Hotline Counselor to serve as the first point of contact for survivors of domestic violence, providing crisis support, risk assessment, and safety planning. This role emphasizes empathetic listening, trauma-informed care, and precise documentation during shifts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, criminal justice, or related human services field preferred.
• Minimum one year of crisis intervention or domestic violence hotline experience required.
• Bilingual English/Spanish may be required for some roles.

Responsibilities

• Answer hotline calls for shelter, safety, or resources related to domestic violence.
• Assess immediate risk and determine caller safety needs.
• Provide empathetic crisis support using active listening.
• Help callers develop a personalized safety plan for immediate and long-term safety.
• Conduct intake assessments for new residents and provide emergency placement services.
• Provide referral services and safety planning when shelter is not available.
• Maintain accurate client records and assist in reporting and training.
