Job summary

The Family Place in Dallas, TX is seeking a Hotline Counselor to serve as the first point of contact for survivors, providing crisis support and immediate safety assessment.

You will answer hotline calls, assess risk, create personalized safety plans, and assist with intake and emergency placement. Training and team support are provided in a compassionate, trauma‑informed environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
• Minimum one year of crisis intervention or domestic violence hotline experience.
• Bilingual English/Spanish may be required for some roles.

Responsibilities

• Answer hotline calls from individuals seeking shelter, safety, or resources related to domestic violence.
• Establish rapport and assess immediate risk to determine the caller’s safety needs.
• Provide empathetic support using active listening and compassionate communication.
• Assist callers in developing a personalized safety plan for immediate and long-term safety.
• Conduct intake assessments for new residents and provide emergency placement services.
