Job summary

BCNC in Boston features a Bilingual Class Assistant within the Adult Education and Workforce team. You will support immigrant adults by teaching English and essential digital skills, reporting to the Assistant Director of Adult Education and helping learners thrive in today’s economy.

You will use Chromebooks, Google Workspace, Zoom/Meet, and online forms, while providing language-accessible explanations in English and another language. A patient, culturally responsive approach is essential.

Qualifications

• No specific degree required; experience in community/classroom settings valued.
• Ability to explain technology to adult learners with varying English proficiency.
• Reliable, organized, and able to follow lesson plans while protecting participant privacy.
• Demonstrates cultural humility and commitment to diverse communities.
• Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in at least one language: Cantonese, Mandarin, French, Spanish, or Haitian Creole.

Responsibilities

• Support bilingual computer skills classes for immigrant adults.
• Provide language-accessible explanations and one-on-one assistance in English and a second language.
• Support class sections and coordinate with the Digital Navigator on lesson prep and scheduling.
• Help learners practice foundational, basic, and intermediate computer skills using Chromebooks, Google Workspace, and online tools.
• Reinforce lessons on security, online fraud prevention, AI tools, digital communication, and workforce readiness.
• Assist with classroom setup and cleanup, device distribution, login support, and basic troubleshooting.
• Encourage participant engagement in a patient, respectful, and culturally responsive environment.
• Support attendance, participant check-in, surveys, and assessments; document questions or digital navigation services.
• Communicate participant needs and tech issues promptly to the Digital Navigator.
• Participate in onboarding, training, and lesson-preparation activities.
