Job summary

Riis Settlement seeks an experienced, bilingual Computer Instructor to teach a basic computer skills course in English and Spanish for adult language learners. Classes meet for 3 hours weekly at 9:30 am–12:30 pm on Monday mornings, in three 10-week cycles starting October, January, and April.

The position runs October 2026 through June 2027 with a possible renewal; the instructor will cover parts of computer, typing, Internet, email, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and social networking, and

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum 1 year of experience teaching computer or digital literacy to adults.
Bilingual English/Spanish required and able to teach English language learners.

Responsibilities

Provide computer instruction in English and Spanish for adult students with limited computer skills.
Develop and implement a 10-week curriculum that covers basic computer skills, typing, Internet/email, MS Office, Google Suite, and social networking.
Design and administer student needs and progress assessments, and adapt lesson plans to meet learning needs.
Ensure lessons are level appropriate, interactive, and address various learning styles.
Create a welcoming, culturally responsive classroom environment that fosters engagement and retention.
Complete administrative tasks including registration forms, attendance, and assessments.
Participate in program meetings and staff development activities.
