Job summary

Oregon Department of Human Services seeks a Child Protective Services Worker (Social Service Specialist 1) who is Spanish/English bilingual to advance equity and safety for Oregon’s children and families.

This permanent, full-time position requires a degree in human services or related field, with language proficiency tests for bilingual duties and a commitment to anti-racist, trauma-informed practice. Location includes some remote work opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field or equivalent.
• Alternative degree plus related experience or certification as prescribed.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Protect children’s safety and support families using trauma-informed approaches.
• Balance needs of child and family while complying with legal requirements.
• Conduct assessments and interviews related to child safety and risk.
• Determine appropriate child placement based on information gathered.
• Create reports, case notes, testify in court, and communicate with diverse populations.
