Job summary

The Oregon Department of Human Services is seeking a Permanency Worker (Social Services Specialist 1) in Dallas to support families and safeguard children within the Child Welfare program.

This position requires bilingual English/Spanish skills, a focus on trauma-informed practices, and the ability to handle documentation, court involvement, and collaboration with community partners to achieve safe, lasting outcomes for children and families in Oregon.

Qualifications

• A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field.
• One year of Human Services related experience; OR coursework equivalent to certification.
• An Associate Degree with two years of related experience or equivalent training.

Responsibilities

• Support Families: help families achieve goals while ensuring child safety.
• Case Management: work with diverse families and community partners.
• Engage Effectively: interact with children and families using trauma-informed approach.
• Develop Strategies: leverage family strengths and address areas needing improvement.
• Documentation and Legal Duties: conduct home visits, complete legal docs, attend court hearings.
• Balance Needs and Legal Requirements: adhere to legal requirements while prioritizing child welfare.
• Build Rapport: establish relationships to understand family dynamics and needs.
