Job summary

Big Night Entertainment Group seeks a Stagehand in Boston, MA for a part-time, non-exempt role. The position supports load-in/load-out, assists audio and lighting crews, and helps prepare band sets for evening shows.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of live event production experience, can lift up to 75 lbs, and works well in a fast-paced environment with noise and lighting changes. Evening, weekend, and holiday hours are required.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Load-in and load-out of band equipment and rental equipment.
• Assist audio and lighting crews as directed.
• Prepare band set changes.
• Ensure performers have required items needed to perform.
• Communicate the evening’s event details to production crew.
• Hang show banners, update marquees and other venue signage.
• Assist with maintenance and repair of sound, light and stage equipment.
• Maintain and secure house backline and supplies.
• Maintain curtains, drapes, risers and other staging items.
• Assist audio crew with stands, microphones, cables, etc.
• Assist lighting crew with fixtures, cabling, etc.
• Operate and care for stage areas in a safe, clean manner.
• Assist with special events operations.
• Ensure stage trash is taken out; stage is set up for next show.

Description

As a Stagehand, a typical day might include the following:

• Performing the load-in and load-out of band equipment and rental equipment


• Assisting audio and lighting crews as directed


• Preparing any band set changes


• Ensuring that members of the band(s) have required items needed to perform the show


• Responsible for communicating the details of the evening’s event to production crew


• Responsible for hanging show banners, updating marquees and other signage in the venue


• Assisting lighting and audio crews as directed by stage manager or production manager


• Assisting with maintenance and repair of sound, light and stage equipment


• Maintaining and securing house backline and supplies


• Maintaining curtains, drapes, risers and other staging items


• Assisting audio crew with stands, microphones, cables, etc.


• Assisting lighting crew with fixtures, cabling, etc.


• Operating and caring for stage areas in a safe, clean manner


• Assisting with any special events operations


• Ensuring stage trash is taken out; stage is swept or set up for next show when needed


• Other duties as assigned

Requirements
