Job description

STV is seeking a Bid Director to work with our commercial project management team. This position is designated as hybrid (3 days in-office per week) and can be within a commutable distance of one of our major U.S. offices.

This role requires comprehensive knowledge of alternative delivery methods for Major Projects, including engineering, contracts, risk management, schedule development, subconsultant procurement, resource planning, cost estimating, controls, and reporting methodologies to prepare accurate and robust bids.

Responsibilities

  • Manage specific Major Project bids and oversee all other Major Project bids.
  • Coordinate with Design-Build Director and Regional Director to identify Major Project bids.
  • Develop strategies, schedules, and resource requirements for bids, ensuring adherence to Gateway processes, procedures, and approvals.
  • Collaborate with Project and Commercial Managers to establish the Design Delivery plan, including scope, drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Review Prime Agreement General Requirements and ensure bid compliance financially and schedule-wise.
  • Oversee the preparation of resource-loaded Design Schedules, coordinating with the Contractor's construction schedule.
  • Work with Procurement and Project Managers to develop and oversee procurement strategies, ensuring accurate budgets and bid exclusions.
  • Develop auditable fee estimates for self-delivered design, ensuring scope and schedule are considered.
  • Conduct Risk and Opportunity Workshops, incorporating findings into the bid.
  • Collaborate on establishing Project Organagrams, Design Work Plans, and BIM Execution Plans, ensuring their inclusion in bids.
  • Support the development of Alternative Technical Concepts, considering risks and opportunities.
  • Prepare Tender Summary Sheets and Offer letters, including scope, schedule, clarifications, and exclusions.
  • Maintain a database of previous bids for KPI measurement.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 20 years of experience in related fields.
  • Strong background in alternative project delivery, understanding contractors' methods, contract management, and commercial oversight.
  • Technical knowledge in commercial, contract, and risk management.
  • Experience with large engineering and construction projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to independently resolve problems and operate efficiently.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Membership in relevant professional bodies.

Compensation Range: $175,410.26 - $233,880.34
