STV is seeking a Bid Director to work with our commercial project management team. This position is designated as hybrid (3 days a week/in office) and can be within a commutable distance of one of our major U.S. offices.
This position requires knowledge and understanding of all aspects of alternative delivery methods for Major Projects including engineering, contracts, risk, schedule development, subconsultant procurement, resource planning, cost estimating and controls, and reporting methodologies to prepare accurate and robust bids.
Responsibilities
- Manage specific Major Project bids and oversee all other Major Project bids.
- Coordinate with Design-Build Director and Regional Director to identify Major Project bids.
- Prepare strategy, schedule, and resource requirements for the bid, ensuring adherence to Gateway processes, procedures, and reviews, and obtain necessary approvals.
- Work with the Project Manager and Commercial Manager to establish the Design Delivery plan, including scope, drawings, specifications, and reports, to develop the bid accordingly.
- Review Prime Agreement General Requirements and ensure the bid provides for these requirements financially and schedule-wise.
- Oversee the preparation of a resource-loaded Design Schedule, coordinating with the Contractor’s construction schedule.
- Develop a procurement strategy with the Procurement Manager and oversee its execution, ensuring accurate budgets and exclusions are included.
- Develop auditable fee estimates for self-delivered design with Discipline Leads, ensuring scope and schedule are understood and reflected.
- Conduct Risk and Opportunity Workshops, incorporating risks and opportunities into the bid.
- Establish Project Organagram, Design Work Plan, and BIM Execution Plan with the Regional Director, ensuring they are included in the bid.
- Support development of Alternative Technical Concepts, considering risks and commercial opportunities.
- Prepare Tender Summary Sheet and Offer letter, including scope, schedule, clarifications, and exclusions.
- Review and respond to all correspondence and meeting records from the Contractor.
- Maintain a database of previous bids for KPI purposes.
Requirements
- Minimum of 20 years of experience.
- Strong background in alternative delivery methods, understanding contractors’ means and methods, managing final design, and commercial management.
- Technical knowledge in commercial, contract, and risk management.
- Experience with large engineering and construction projects.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to resolve problems independently and operate efficiently.
- Degree in construction, engineering, or related discipline.
- Membership of relevant professional body.
Compensation Range
$175,410.26 - $233,880.34
