Job description

STV is seeking a Bid Director to work with our commercial project management team. This position is designated as hybrid (3 days in office per week) and can be located within a commutable distance of one of our major U.S. offices.

This role requires comprehensive knowledge of alternative delivery methods for Major Projects, including engineering, contracts, risk management, schedule development, subconsultant procurement, resource planning, cost estimating and controls, and reporting methodologies to ensure accurate and robust bids.

Responsibilities

  • Manage specific Major Project bids and oversee all other Major Project bids.
  • Coordinate with Design-Build Director and Regional Director to identify potential bids.
  • Develop strategies, schedules, and resource plans for bids, ensuring adherence to Gateway processes and obtaining necessary approvals.
  • Work with Project and Commercial Managers to establish design delivery plans, including scope and schedule considerations.
  • Review Prime Agreement General Requirements and ensure bids meet these requirements financially and schedule-wise.
  • Oversee the preparation of resource-loaded Design Schedules, coordinating with construction schedules.
  • Develop procurement strategies with Procurement and Project Managers, ensuring accurate budgets and scope exclusions.
  • Develop auditable fee estimates with Discipline Leads, considering scope and schedule.
  • Conduct Risk and Opportunity Workshops to incorporate risks and opportunities into bids.
  • Collaborate on establishing Project Organagrams, Design Work Plans, and BIM Execution Plans.
  • Support development of Alternative Technical Concepts, considering risks and commercial opportunities.
  • Prepare Tender Summary Sheets and Offer Letters, including scope, schedule, clarifications, and exclusions.
  • Review and respond to correspondence and meetings from contractors.
  • Maintain a database of previous bids for KPI tracking.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in related fields.
  • Strong background in alternative project delivery, understanding contractors' methods, contract implementation, and commercial management.
  • Technical knowledge in contracts, risk management, and commercial aspects.
  • Experience with large engineering and construction projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to solve problems independently and operate efficiently.
  • Degree in construction, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Membership in relevant professional bodies.

Compensation Range: $175,410.26 - $233,880.34
