Job description

STV is seeking a Bid Director to work with our commercial project management team. This position is designated as hybrid (3 days in-office per week) and can be within a commutable distance of one of our major U.S. offices.

This role requires comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of alternative delivery methods for Major Projects, including engineering, contracts, risk management, schedule development, subconsultant procurement, resource planning, cost estimating and controls, and reporting methodologies to ensure accurate and robust bids.

Responsibilities
  1. Manage specific Major Project bids and oversee all other Major Project bids.
  2. Coordinate with Design-Build Director and Regional Director to identify Major Project bids.
  3. Develop strategy, schedule, and resource requirements for bids, ensuring adherence to Gateway processes, procedures, and approvals.
  4. Collaborate with Project Managers and Commercial Managers to establish the Design Delivery plan, including scope and documentation requirements.
  5. Review Prime Agreement General Requirements and ensure bid compliance in terms of finances and schedule.
  6. Oversee the preparation of a resource-loaded Design Schedule, coordinating with the Contractor's construction schedule.
  7. Develop procurement strategies with Procurement and Project Managers, ensuring accurate budgets and bid exclusions.
  8. Create auditable fee estimates for self-delivered design, ensuring scope and schedule are incorporated.
  9. Conduct Risk and Opportunity Workshops, incorporating findings into the bid.
  10. Establish Project Organagram, Design Work Plan, and BIM Execution Plan with Regional Directors, ensuring inclusion in the bid.
  11. Support the development of Alternative Technical Concepts, considering risks and commercial opportunities.
  12. Prepare Tender Summary Sheet and Offer letter, including scope, schedule, clarifications, and exclusions.
  13. Maintain a database of previous bids for KPI tracking.
  14. Review and respond to all correspondence and meeting records from the Contractor.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in related fields.
  • Strong background in alternative project delivery, including understanding contractor methods, contract management, and final design management.
  • Technical expertise in commercial, contract, and risk management.
  • Experience with large engineering and construction projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to independently resolve problems and operate efficiently.
  • Degree in construction, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Membership in a relevant professional body.

Compensation Range: $175,410.26 - $233,880.34
