Bid Director - Commercial Project Management

Overview

STV is seeking a Bid Director to work with our commercial project management team. This position is designated as hybrid (3 days/week in office) and can be within a commutable distance of one of our major U.S. offices. The role requires knowledge of all aspects of alternative delivery methods for Major Projects, including engineering, contracts, risk, schedule development, subconsultant procurement, resource planning, cost estimating, controls, and reporting methodologies to prepare accurate bids.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with Design-Build Director and Regional Director to identify Major Project bids.
  • Prepare strategy, schedule, and resource requirements for bids, ensuring adherence to Gateway processes and obtaining necessary approvals.
  • Work with Project and Commercial Managers to establish Design Delivery plans, including scope, drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Review Prime Agreement General Requirements and ensure bids account for these in terms of cost and schedule.
  • Oversee preparation of resource-loaded Design Schedules aligned with construction schedules.
  • Develop procurement strategies with Procurement and Project Managers, ensuring accurate budgets and exclusions.
  • Develop auditable fee estimates for self-delivered design scopes.
  • Conduct Risk and Opportunity Workshops, incorporating findings into bids.
  • Collaborate with Regional Directors on Project Organagrams, Design Work Plans, and BIM Execution Plans.
  • Support development of Alternative Technical Concepts, considering risks and opportunities.
  • Prepare Tender Summary Sheets and Offer Letters, including scope, schedule, clarifications, and exclusions.
  • Maintain a database of previous bids for KPI tracking.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in related fields.
  • Strong background in alternative project delivery, understanding contractors’ methods, contracts, and commercial management.
  • Technical expertise in commercial, contract, and risk management.
  • Experience with large engineering and construction projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to solve problems independently and operate efficiently.
  • Degree in construction, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Membership in relevant professional bodies.
Compensation Range

$175,410.26 - $233,880.34
