Job summary

Pre Con Industries in Santa Maria, California is seeking a Bid Coordinator/ Assistant Estimator for an in-person, full-time role. You will assist the project estimator on bids, coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers, track bid invitations, and support the estimating process.

Responsibilities include preparing bid packages, maintaining bid schedules, and presenting detailed take-offs from plans. Strong communication and problem-solving are essential; this role requires reading construction

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Experience in administrative or project management roles.
• Knowledge of estimating and project coordination.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to read blueprints, construction plans and specifications.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license, clean driving record and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct bid follow-ups with subcontractors to confirm receipt of bid invitations.
• Call subcontractors to confirm participation and gather bid status updates.
• Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Prepare, send and track bid invitation lists and follow up for responses.
• Update and maintain the current bid schedule.
• Attend pre-bid meetings as required and organize bid packages as needed.
• Assist the estimator with administrative duties in proposals and estimates.
• Obtain subcontractor and supplier estimates and present prepared estimates with detailed take-offs from plans and specs.
• Maintain positive communication with customers via phone and email.
• Obtain project documents and read project specs and manuals.
• Perform basic clerical tasks as requested by estimating staff.
• Coordinate with chief estimator to submit correct data on bid proposals.
