Job summary

Trina Storage North America is seeking a Senior Compliance Engineer to lead product regulatory efforts for utility-scale solar, wind, and energy storage projects. Qualifications

About the Job

The Senior Compliance Engineer will lead product compliance efforts by ensuring designs meet applicable regulatory and safety standards, managing testing and third-party certifications, and validating products for global markets. This role partners cross-functionally to drive project execution, mitigate compliance risks, develop processes and documentation, and communicate progress while supporting business growth and regulatory excellence. The ideal candidate will have an engineering background with experience in utility-scale solar, wind or energy storage projects. This position reports to the Head of Product & Engineering, or another senior management personnel that the Vice President of the Company may designate.

This is a remote position. Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm Local Time. Regular evening or early morning (outside normal working hours) work may be required, for example to coordinate with our global headquarters based in China, or as other business circumstances dictate. This position is expected to travel up to 20% of the time, as needed.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Validate product design to ensure compliance with required standards in intended market.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with project objectives and deliverables.
  • Create and maintain test templates for various product testing and validation.
  • Review and approve third party testing.
  • Source, engage, and manage third-party testing, modelling, and analysis vendors to validate product design.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks and obstacles that may impact project timelines.
  • Work cross-functionally with internal groups for effective documentation creation and control.
  • Prepare and present project status reports to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Prepare regular progress reports and conduct project review meetings to ensure transparency and alignment; and
  • All other duties and special projects, as assigned by Management.
Your Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a another related field;
  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in the regulatory compliance industry for utility-scale solar, wind, or battery energy storage projects;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft platforms (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.);
  • Experience creating processes and procedures as needed to support growth in business;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong problem-solving skills;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to work autonomously on multiple responsibilities and deliver on commitments;
  • Ability to work in a team, build trust with stakeholders, and influence stakeholders;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, fostering relationship-building with customers and internal teams;
  • Risk-aware mind set;
  • Must have the ability to work in the evening 20% of the time, in order to coordinate with global functions; and
  • Must have the ability to travel up to 20% of the time, as needed.
