Job summary

Trina Storage North America, the U.S. energy storage division of Trinasolar, invites a Mechanical Engineer to drive mechanical projects for energy storage systems.

You will design, prototype, and test equipment, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver reliable energy storage solutions. The role requires 5–7 years in mechanical design and thermal analysis, proficiency in CAD tools, and the ability to coordinate with global functions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in mechanical design, thermal analysis, and familiarity with Electrical Single Line Diagrams.
• Experience in the renewable energy sector and energy storage solutions, preferred.
• Proficiency in CAD software for mechanical design, such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
• Hands-on experience in planning, designing, and building prototypes, tools, or equipment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with standards for cable sizing and routing.
• Knowledge of site requirements for equipment placement.
• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.
• Experience creating processes and procedures to support growth in business.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail with a risk-aware mindset.
• Ability to work autonomously on multiple responsibilities and deliver on commitments.
• Ability to work in a team, build trust with stakeholders, and influence stakeholders.

• Must be able to work evenings 20% of the time to coordinate with global functions.
• Must be able to travel up to 15% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for prototypes and mechanical systems, and electrical diagrams using AutoCAD and Visio to support the System Fleet for Energy Storage.
• Validate Thermal and Mechanical designs for Energy Storage Systems.
• Develop prototypes, tools, and equipment for R&D to support Mechanical and Thermal design of Energy Storage Systems.
• Plan, design, and execute mechanical system design related to energy storage solutions and power systems that are buildable and compliant with standards.
• Fabricate, assemble, and test prototypes and equipment, validating FAT requirements and Thermal performance.
• Collaborate with the team and provide technical expertise throughout the development process.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues during prototype and equipment testing phases.
• Generate technical reports and present findings to the team and stakeholders for new Battery products generation.
• Provide technical support and guidance to the team and assist with problem-solving activities.
• Work across departments to ensure alignment with project goals and objectives.
• Ensure compliance with standards for cable sizing and routing.
• Assess and address site requirements for equipment placement; and
• All other duties and special projects, as assigned by Management.
