Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer I, BESS to create preliminary BESS designs and review designs produced by others.

The role offers hybrid work options with in-office presence in San Diego, CA, Edison, NJ, Bend, OR or fully remote, with location discussions during interview. The candidate will perform BESS layouts, single line diagrams, bid-drawing reviews, RFP evaluation, and basic electrical calculations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• EIT certification or on track to obtain it.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
• Foundational knowledge of electrical engineering principles and building codes.

Responsibilities

• BESS Design Support: Create preliminary BESS layouts and single line diagrams using templates; review bid drawings for internal standards and document differences; evaluate RFPs against standard designs and communicate unique specifications.
• CAD Drafting: Create and modify electrical engineering drawings using AutoCAD.
• Code and Regulatory Research: Research NEC and NFPA 855 and stay current on applicable codes.
• Project Collaboration: Participate in design reviews and collaborate with engineering teams.
• Documentation and Reporting: Assist in preparing technical reports, calculations, and specifications; maintain design revision history.
