Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer I, BESS to develop preliminary battery energy storage system designs and review others’ work. The role supports design, drafting, and regulatory research in a hybrid or remote setting with in-office presence in select US locations.

You will collaborate across engineering and business teams to deliver compliant, safe electrical designs. Qualified applicants hold a bachelor’s in electrical engineering, pursue or hold an EIT, and are proficient with

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
EIT certification or on track to obtain it.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook.
Fundamentals of electrical engineering including wire sizing and current calculations.
Basic knowledge of building codes and industry practices.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
Commitment to safety and sense of urgency.

Responsibilities

Create preliminary BESS designs and layouts using templates.
Review bid drawings to internal standards and document differences.
Evaluate RFPs against standard designs and communicate unique specs.
Collaborate with Business Development and Estimating on RFP responses.
Perform basic electrical calculations to support design.
Create and modify electrical drawings in AutoCAD.
Research NEC and NFPA 855 and stay current on codes.
Participate in design reviews and collaborate with engineering teams.
Prepare technical reports, calculations, and specifications; maintain revision history.
