Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer I, BESS to create preliminary battery energy storage system designs and review colleagues' designs.

The role can be hybrid with in-office presence in San Diego, CA, Edison, NJ, Bend, OR or fully remote; specific location details will be discussed during interviews. Responsibilities include creating layouts and single-line diagrams, reviewing bid drawings, evaluating RFPs, performing basic electrical calculations, drafting in AutoCAD, researching

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• EIT certification or on track to obtain it.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
• Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles (wire sizing, current calculations).
• Knowledge of building codes and industry best practices.

Responsibilities

• Create preliminary BESS layouts and single line diagrams using templates.
• Review bid drawings against internal standards and document differences.
• Evaluate RFPs and communicate unique specifications to necessary parties.
• Collaborate with Business Development and Estimating on RFP responses.
• Perform basic electrical engineering calculations to support design.
• Create and modify electrical drawings using AutoCAD.
• Research NEC and NFPA 855 and stay current on codes.
