Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer I, BESS to create preliminary battery energy storage system designs and review designs created by others.

The role supports hybrid work with in-office presence in San Diego, CA, Edison, NJ, Bend, OR or fully remote arrangements. The incumbent will participate in design reviews and collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines to ensure compliant, safe, and effective BESS solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• EIT certification or on track to obtain it.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
• Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles, including wire sizing and current calculations.
• Knowledge of building codes, engineering principles, and industry best practices.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Commitment to safety and urgency.

Responsibilities

• BESS Design Support: Create preliminary BESS layouts and single line diagrams using templates.
• Review bid drawings against internal standards and document differences.
• Evaluate RFPs and communicate unique specifications to stakeholders.
• Coordinate with Business Development and Estimating for RFP responses.
• Perform basic electrical engineering calculations for design support.
