Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer I, BESS to develop preliminary battery energy storage system designs and to review others’ work. The role supports design reviews, drafting in AutoCAD, and regulatory research, with flexible hybrid or remote work options.

The candidate will perform basic electrical calculations, communicate with BD and Estimating on RFPs, and help prepare technical reports while maintaining precise documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• EIT certification or on track to obtain it.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
• Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles, including wire sizing and current calculations.
• Basic knowledge of applicable building codes, engineering principles, and industry best practices.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
• Commitment to safety and a strong sense of urgency.

Responsibilities

• BESS Design Support: Create preliminary BESS layouts and single line diagrams using templates.
• Review bid drawings to internal standards and document differences.
• Review RFPs and evaluate against our standard designs and communicate unique specs.
• Collaborate with Business Development and Estimating on RFP responses.
• Perform basic electrical engineering calculations to support design.
• CAD Drafting: Create and modify electrical drawings using AutoCAD.
• Code and Regulatory Research: Research NEC and NFPA 855 codes.
• Project Collaboration: Participate in design reviews with other disciplines.
• Documentation and Reporting: Prepare technical reports, calculations, and specs; maintain revision history.
