Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Indianapolis is seeking a Member Engagement Specialist at the Benjamin Harrison YMCA in Indianapolis, IN. This role focuses on selling and promoting memberships, programs and services while delivering outstanding member service.

You will work closely with the Member Experience and Engagement Director, serving as a primary contact for prospective members, assessing needs and offering solutions to meet expectations. Evenings and weekends are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; degree in business, sales, marketing or communications preferred.
• 1-3 years of sales experience with a proven track record of meeting/exceeding targets.
• Strong interpersonal, presentation and written communication skills.

Role Description

The Member Engagement Specialist sells and promotes YMCA memberships, programs and services in order to enable their center to advance their mission and strategic center goals. In conjunction with the Member Experience and Engagement Director, the Specialist will serve as the first point of contact for prospective new members, determining their needs and offering solutions/ options to meet their needs and expectations. The Specialist may serve in a supervisory capacity in the absence of the Director. This position will spend the majority of the time in direct member service and sales functions and will be the expert with regards to operating systems.

Qualifications

• Position requires a high school diploma/ GED (degree in business, sales, marketing or communications preferred) and 1-3 years of sales experience and a proven track record of meeting or exceeding results in a sales goal environment.
• Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with others (experience leading a sales team or customer experience team is a plus).
• Excellent presentation, writing, negotiation, analytical and customer service skills are essential to success in this position.
• Must possess an entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to demonstrate flexibility in a rapidly changing, fast-paced and often ambiguous work environment.
• Position requires a varied work schedule, including evenings, and weekends.
• Candidate must be knowledgeable and keep current on Center program offerings and the scope of options available to members (including the membership pricing structure).
