Job summary

Valparaiso Family YMCA is seeking a part-time Membership Representative to support membership and program enrollment services. The role entails processing memberships, handling inquiries, and performing cash handling and POS duties.

A high school diploma, 18+ age, and customer service experience are required, with a typing speed of 35 wpm. The position requires availability days, evenings, and weekends, with benefits including free Y membership and discounted family memberships.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Previous customer service experience.
  • Must be able to type at least 35 words per minute.

Responsibilities

  • Process new memberships and process program registrations; maintain a high level of confidentiality with regard to all personal and financial aspects.
  • Respond to inquiries/requests as per department guidelines. This includes but is not limited to contacting department staff for department-specific issues.
  • Process retail sales.
  • Maintain facility key box; notify supervisor immediately when any key is unaccounted.
  • Maintain cash box and balance shifts.
  • Adhere to work schedule and primary substitute for others when needed.
  • Perform opening and/or closing procedures as required and outlined in department guidelines.
  • Follow emergency procedures and safety precautions. Follow procedures for reporting all accidents, incidents and hazards.
  • Adhere to all policies, rules, and regulations as outlined in employee handbook and other communications. Obtain and maintain required training(s).
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations. Obtain and maintain required training(s).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

This part-time position supports the Membership team as a crucial role for providing membership and program enrollment services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Previous customer service experience required.

Must be able to type at least 35 words per minute.

SALARY:

Minimum starting rate of $12 an hour

Starting rate based on experience

Shift differential provided for certain hours and receipting responsibilities

SCHEDULE:

Part-time

Daytimes, evenings, and weekends
