Job summary

The State of Indiana is seeking a Benefits Administrator to manage day-to-day issues of the benefits programs and provide guidance to HR staff, benefits coordinators, and employees. You will resolve questions, coordinate with carriers, and support enrollment and claims processes.

Role requires knowledge of COBRA, HIPAA, and Section 125, with a broad understanding of benefits administration. A degree is not required, and a strong team-oriented mindset is essential.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of COBRA, HIPAA, Section 125 and other benefits laws/regulations.
  • Working knowledge of fundamentals, laws, theories and practices of Human Resources Management.
  • Working knowledge of benefits administration.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day to day issues of the benefits programs.
  • Provide direction and assistance to agency HR staff, benefits coordinators and employees.
  • Resolve benefit administration questions and issues raised by agencies, employees and family members.
  • Receive correction requests for PeopleSoft data errors and ensure documentation is gathered.
  • Make data corrections or advise agencies on resolution.
  • Work with agency/employees and carriers for emergency membership loads.
  • Research claims, disputes, and eligibility with carriers to ensure proper adjudication.
  • Assist in problem resolution and review files for disability/WC/TPA.
  • Provide training and education on benefits programs to managers and employees.
  • Conduct review of benefit election complaints and appeals submitted to Benefits Division.
