Job summary

Massachusetts Institute of Technology is seeking a Benefits Representative 2 in the Human Resources department. This full-time, hybrid role requires advising on plan eligibility and options, processing enrollments and changes, and delivering accurate benefit support to MIT faculty, staff, retirees, and other entitled individuals.

Responsibilities include documenting processes, answering inquiries, and researching complex policy questions to ensure correct benefits handling.

Qualifications

• REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent
• minimum of five years HR Benefits/customer service or data reporting/analytics
• excellent problem solving, organizational skills and attention to detail
• prioritize competing demands and follow through with interruptions
• excellent interfacing skills with clients in person, by phone and email
• present complex employee issues after research and analysis
• proficiency in Microsoft Office and web applications
• PREFERRED: ability to learn HR information systems and SAP

Responsibilities

• Counsels MIT faculty, staff, retirees, beneficiaries and vested terminated employees on benefits inquiries
• Handle enrollments, changes and cancellations of health, dental, vision, life and FSA benefits
• Create department process documentation and workflow charts to drive efficiency
• Research and resolve complex benefit plan questions and advise stakeholders
